Celebrate The Angel Company

Yay a Hop!

We are celebrating The Angel Company, which closed last week.  This card was my husband's birthday card.  His birthday was Tuesday.  What a great set "Eyes to See".  I love this image.

I have to admit I was going to do a spotlight on the drake since this was his birthday card. This is one of the subjects discussed in the Copic Intermediate Class that I forgot to mention in my talk at Seminar this year.  {So Sorry - for those wanting to know more about the class and less about the other subjects I touched on.}  How you light your image can change the focal point. This is one of my 'aha moments' from the class when we were shown the same image lit differently.  If the light hits the drake first he is the focal point.  If you move your light source to hit the female duck, she is the focal point, even though she is somewhat behind.

This is just such an interesting image when you study it.  I love to look at how the illustrator drew it, all the details. There is always intent designed in, so much forethought. This one is drawn in such a way that there is kind of an optical illusion going on.  I love that!

Ended up just coloring the whole thing because Mark doesn't like the "spotlight" put on him.  Truth be told he forgot it was his birthday Tuesday morning.  We celebrated Friday night by going to a Packer game {awesome seats}.

Copics:
Water - B41, B45
Drake: E30, YR23, YG93, B37
Duck: E30, E55, E57, E59
Foliage: YG31, YG93, YG95, YG 97

The Angel Company has meant so much to me over the last 7 years.  I have grown SO much.  Believe it or not I did not consider myself a "colorer" or speaker either for that matter.  The images have been so amazing over the years and seemed to be getting better and better.

I loved that they were a Christian company too, our demonstrator manual emphasized The Golden Rule and it was written from that perspective.  I knew I was in the right place after reading the manual.

I loved that they were so ahead of their time.  I remember when I first looked at the catalog in 2003. They had lovely sets and the EZ-Cling (Creative Cling)mounting system.  I really could not believe that the cling foam came with the rubber for that price!

You see I had been buying rubber one place and the cling at another and paying shipping on both, since there wasn't a one stop shop for the Christian stamps with this mounting system.  I had become a huge fan of this mounting system and had been using it for a couple years already.

I remember asking if they had any Christian stamps, scripture verses etc...  Donna said this is a Christian based company.  Hook, line and sinker that is all she had to say.  SOLD!

I could go on but there are so many blogs you should visit.  Here is the list:

What a ride, thanks for letting me tag along!

Abundant Blessing to you...
Deb

P.S. - I have a post on my DDH blog too. {I will be merging the 2 eventually} So I have a link below.  Also if you did not hear about this hop and would love to join, feel free to link in and share what you loved about The Angel Company!

Remember this is not a funeral this is a celebration.  The Angel Company brought so many people together who probably would not have never met otherwise.  What a Blessing.

Celebrating The Angel Company {and DDH} Hop

Yay a Hop!

This is a Celebration of The Angel Company, which closed last week.  TAC brought so many people together who probably would not have met otherwise.  What an amazing blessing!

This is a post I had all cued up for Hannah's DDH Challenge "Cards for Kids".  How perfect??  I made this weeks ago!

For me, the best part about DDH was seeing all these great retired TAC images again.  I didn't sell my stamps over my 7 years as a demonstrator for The Angel Company.  I am SO thankful.

This one - "Lion" was one of my favorites, because it reminds me of my brother and when we were kids.  He had a stuffed Lion that he loved so much the paint on the plastic eye buttons had worn off and been painted back on {repeatedly LOL}.   "Leon" looked just like this.  There were bare spots in his mane.  It didn't matter.

I made a card similar to this for my brother years ago when this set was 1st released.  He could not believe there was a lion image out there that looked so much like Leon - in "cartoon form" is how he put it.

Copics: R29, Y17, YG03, YG11, E31, E33, E35, E37, E29

It's amazing how an image invokes a memory or emotion.  Isn't it?  That is what I love about stamps.

That is what I loved so much about The Angel Company.  A new catalog would come out and I would think to myself - how did they know I was looking for an image like that.  How did they know I love that scripture.  How did they know??

If you loved The Angel Company and DDH.  There is a hop celebrating how they blessed us.  There is a link below where you can add a card using your "favorite" TAC/DDH image or maybe you already had a post cued up like me.  The link will be active for a few days - until Sept 1st.

Here are the other bloggers in this hop...

Thank you SO much to the DDH Design Team - you have taught me so much about digis.

This blog will be merged with my main blog www.creamcityangels.blogspot.com eventually. Need to figure out how to do it first. So that is where you can find me in the future, if you are interested.  I won't be selling but hope to be designing again after a little break.

It has been a great ride, thanks for letting me tag along.

Abundant Blessings too you...
Deb

TAC August Blog Hop ~ Stamping on Fabric

Ready for a Hop?

This month the theme was really challenging for me because I've never done it - Stamping on Fabric.  I did some research and found some great videos on youtube.  I even found one of Mischelle's videos.  The set I used is He Created Spring a Mabelle RO set and I "fabric-pieced" her dress.

The fabric I used is actually a 100% cotton bandana I found in the craft section at WalMart for a $1.  I was having a hard time finding muslin...well not that I was looking that hard.  Turns out the WalMart I stopped at on my way home from work did not sell fabric.  {sigh} Oh well.  This bandana did OK and it was only $1.

Palette inks work great if you are using solid stamp images or coloring with watercolor pencil. I wanted to try Copics - so I used Mementos black ink and heat set it.  I colored very lightly staying away from the lines a bit so the ink did not bleed past the line, then heat set to further prevent bleeding. This technique worked pretty well.  It took me several trys - only 10.
Supplies -- Stamps: He Created Spring, These are the Days (Happy Birthday), Papers: Raspberry Splash, Strawberry Splash, Caboodles Copic Cardstock, Copics [RV21, RV29, YR21, YR23, YR24, E21, E13], Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, VersaMark ink, Nestabilities #17 die.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the hop!

Abundant Blessings,
Deb

Grand Opening: Day 3 ~ Birthday

Today is day 3 of our Grand Opening Celebration. It is Birthday Wednesday.  In fact it is Hannah's birthday today - Happy Birthday Hannah!

The image is from DDH Floral Perfumes, which is not a "new set" however I have not used it yet so it is new to me and one of my many favorites.

I tried to think outside the box on this one - by cutting out just part of the image.  This image is colored with Copic markers and I added some glossy accents to the rose.
Supplies -- DDH Floral Perfumes, Papers: Ocean Breeze cardstock, Olive cardstock, Copic [R24, R29, YG93, YG95, YG97, Y35, Y38, B000], Glossy Accents.

Friday, we will have a blog hop using a new DDH set "Groovy Bug".

Grand Opening: Day 2 ~ Techniques

Today is day 2 of our Grand Opening Celebration.  It is technique Tuesday.  I chose a coloring technique - chalks.  The butterfly is paper pieced and I did some dry embossing too.

I printed out the butterfly twice - cut out one and layered it on the second image.  I colored the wings with chalk.

The base card is dry embossed with a texture plate, then I dragged a VersaMark ink pad over the embossed pattern to make it really stand out.  These new texture plates TAC carries really give a beautiful and deep impression - LOVE them.

This is a super easy any occasion card - great to keep on hand just in case something comes up.

The image is from DDH Pansies, which is a new DDH set this week.

Supplies -- DDH Pansies, Papers: Black cardstock, Swimming Pool cardstock, Postal texture plate, Amberley Grace ribbon, Basic Brights chalk, VersaMark ink.

Tomorrow we will be featuring birthday cards so check back.
